Mobility Based Discussion Groups - On Demand
Maximize Your Mobility
A Dozen Ways to Uncreak Your Joints and Maximize Your Mobility
The lead article in Time Magazine 16th December 2002 indicated that the world's 2nd biggest health problem, second only to Aids, is the increase of joint and muscle problems, leading to mobility problems in people from their early 20s and 30s onwards.
This class, which you attend from your home on skype or your phone, addresses
the issues of how to get the most out of your mobility.
Come to this class if you:
- have less mobility than you would like
- wish to retain the mobility you have
- care for someone who has mobility challenges
- want to prevent mobility challenges from controlling what you can accomplish
- realizing that putting on your socks is harder than it used to be
- discovering that stairs are making you surprisingly slow
- noticing that getting out of a car in a confined car park space is creating challenges
Brainstorm ideas together on:
- how to get up if you fall, without injuring the backs of those who are helping you
- why a table with 4 legs is a valuable asset to your mobility

Who Leads the Group Discussions?
Formally an Occupational Therapist involved in Physical
Rehabilitation, Anne Mace worked extensively with those who
needed to maintain their mobility prior to having hip replacements,
and again to achieve maximum results following joint replacement
surgery, as well as with others who were dealing with mobility
challenges from assorted causes. This turned out to be invaluable
information with which to deal successfully with her own
hip replacement a little while later.
As creaky joints became part of her life, Anne trained as
a Personal Coach and is now a graduate of Coach U, the premier
provider of coach education in the States.
Now Anne runs her own Personal Coaching business, and facilitates
interactive discussion groups on several topics from the
comfort of her own home.
Anne's personal and professional knowledge of the challenges
you are facing means this group will be run with empathetic
understanding, a sense of humour, and an ability to assist
you to find your own creative solutions.
Hearing what Anne has to say will not make your Mobility
challenges go away but it will make them easier to deal with.
Case study
Included in one of these discussions groups were a lady permanently
on crutches, a couple who needed to be involved in the
day to day care of a mother in a rest home, a man with
arthritis in one knee which was his hindering his ability
to get into his garden, and a younger person carrying sports
injuries in recovery stage.
At the end of the group discussions the lady on crutches had found a new way of getting in and out of her car, the couple with the mother in the rest home had some new ways to assist with her dressing and showering activities, the man with arthritis had decided to replace his roses with standard roses and use a dutch hoe for weeding, and the person with sports injuries found it was possible to turn in bed without adding additional strain to his injuries.
Peace and love to all those with mobility challenges where ever you are.

Case study
Members of one of these discussion groups all had post polio
syndrome for 10 years or more with their mobility status varying
from still walking unassisted, using sticks or crutches or
being full time in wheelchairs.
The questions were many and varied, new ways were discussed for
transferring car to crutches and chairs, discussion on the use
of natural supplements was wide ranging with many suggestions
being made, information was given on how to check the qualifications
of your orthotist, and we all learnt new ways of acquiring the
services and help we require at varying times.
Members of the group also expressed relief at being part of a group who knew and understood the ramifications of post polio syndrome, and the complications it can cause for the person involved and their families.
Peace and love to all my friends who also live with Post Polio Syndrome.
